According to the 2002 CEPro (Custom Electronics Professional) Magazine survey of top systems integrators, Electronics Design Group, Inc. remains head and shoulders above the crowd as the one to beat in the NJ-NY Metropolitan area. EDG actually moved up a notch this year, jumping into the top 15 nationwide.
Despite a year that saw our area battling both the recession and themyriad aftershocks of the unprecedented World Trade Center assault, savvy homeowners nevertheless continued to invest in smart technologies to improve the value of their homes and enhance their lifestyles. In turn, all across the country the custom electronics industry managed to sustain its record of growth, adding new companies as well as racking up a 27% overall revenue gain.
In view of this growth, the fifth annual CEPro survey expanded to 100 in 2002 from its former cap of 50 companies. EDG has consistently ranked near the top in all of them.
The survey is an excellent indicator of expertise and experience in home systems integration because it ranks by the volume of billed business from residential systems that incorporate at least three of the following subsystems:
. Audio (sources, speakers, processors or multiroom distribution components)
. HVAC control/energy management systems
. Lighting controls
. Security systems (alarms, integrated fire, access control or CCTV)
. Structured wiring systems
. Telecommunications systems
. Video (sources, monitors, projectors, screens, DBS or multiroom distribution components)
. Whole-house automation/integration
. PC networks/broadband installation
. Window covering controls
. Other (central vacuum, surge protection, irrigation control, spa controls, etc.)
The survey also found that audio systems lead the way in home installations, with video second. However, home networking is the fastest growing installation discipline, a fact that will certainly not surprise EDG’s clients, most of whom have included LANs in their wiring plan, sharing home office, personal communications, and internet activities. No wonder it leads the list of the hottest growth technologies for the coming year:
