Electronics Design Group Announced as a Finalist for Mark of Excellence Awards

Consumer Electronics Association Nominates EDG in Three Categories for National Award Competition

Piscataway , NJ-February 2, 2007-

Electronics Design Group, Inc. (EDG), of Piscataway, NJ, is pleased to announce that it is a finalist for three Mark of Excellence Awards, from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), in the following categories; Luxury Home of the Year, Best Lighting Control Project, and Best Home Theater/Media Room. The Mark of Excellence Awards competition recognizes companies at the forefront of innovation in the home technologies and custom electronic integration industry. Award winners will be announced on Friday, March 9th, at the 2007 TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards Dinner at The Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida.

“It is an honor for Electronics Design Group to be recognized as a finalist by a panel of industry experts,” said Nick Lehotzky, Marketing Manager for EDG. “The Mark of Excellence Awards competition showcases some of the best projects in the country. To have three different entries recognized in different categories illustrates the quality and innovation that goes into each of our installations. We wish all of the finalists luck as we eagerly anticipate the awards dinner in March.”

A brief description of the three EDG project finalist and their respective categories are:

Luxury Home of the Year
Shore to Please Project
This Jersey Shore project demonstrates the best an EDG integrated system has to offer. The robust installation features a 16 Zone Multi Room Audio system, lighting control, media systems in the Master Bedroom and Library, a screening room on the lower level, 7 zones
of HVAC control, and motorized shading throughout the home. All of the sub systems are controlled via a Crestron control system which allows for off site access, too.

BestLighting Control Project
Historic Renovation Project

History and the future collide here in this home built in the 1800′s. Special care was taken to
preserve the original plaster walls as old wiring was removed and updated to meet today’s sophisticated requirements. A 40 ft-long bank of windows, part of a 5,000 sq ft addition, required extensive shade motorization so 5′ shades were mounted into custom shade pockets to provide total control of natural light in the space. Extensive exterior lighting was tied to an astronomical time clock, intuitively recognizing sunrise and sunset changes, while turning lights on and off throughout the evening and early morning hours.

Best Home Theater/Media Room
Gentleman’s Lounge Project

The warm earth tones and attention to architectural detail define this Gentleman’s Lounge as an inviting space to relax. Alternatively, at the touch of a button this room transforms from a state-of-relaxation to state-of-the-art. This room, with totally hidden technology, features a 92″ drop-down screen hidden in a soffit, a projector hidden behind a motorized wood panel projector door, a 42″ plasma hidden behind motorized plasma art, motorizes shades, and faux painted ceiling mounted speakers. Operation is simple with a Crestron remote. There was little room for error making coordination with other trades essential and complex.

A panel of judges comprised of systems integrators, manufacturers, members of the trade press, and industry consultants will be scoring and selecting the installations having the highest level of professionalism, quality, and expertise in design and integration.

EDG was recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association with a Mark of Excellence Award in 2005 as Dealer of the Year.
